    1、选D。/ Liocoln was elected president of the United States for the second time。 简单地说，当职务或头衔是“唯一”的时候，不加冠词；否则，一般加冠词，如： they elected him president of the society。
    (他们选他当协会主席） they elected him a deputy to the Congress。(他们选他当议会代表） 2、A。 At At the good news they began to sing and dance。
   at 在这是：on account of，because of（根据；因为） 如：rejoice at a victory。  （因胜利而欢欣鼓舞） 本例也可以说成：Hearing the good news，they began to sing and dance。
   3、 oke out Fighting between them broke out on July 4th。 当“发生”讲时: a) take place，come about 和occur的意思是一样的，且都是不及物动词。
     b) happen 的意思是to take place or occur by chance(偶然发生),同样是不及物动词。 所以 be happened,be taken place 的用法都是不对的。
  A，B选项是错的 break out 也是“发生”的意思，但含有不可预见的突发性，常用于战争、战斗，翻译成“爆发”。  你可以把它当成习惯用法记住。如： World War II broke out in 1939。
  （第二次世界大战是1939年爆发的。） Hostilities have broken out between the two countries。（两国之间爆发了战争。  ） 4、选 r;to Happily for Lincoln, his second mother was kind to him。
  
   be kind to：对。。。慈爱，对。。。好（固定用法） 至于Happily for Lincoln，为什么用for,只是凭感觉。  一时讲不出道理。 以上共参考。 。

1.B,应该是be ellected to be ...to be =as 2.??应该是having heard 或者是on hearing吧,打错了吗? 3.D ,take place不能用做被动,这类指爆发的词都不能用于被动~C应改为come out A把was去掉,B用took place,这样改才是对的 4.C,固定用法~对待某人用to
