   If you’re eligible for one of these state grants, we will include it in your aid award once we receive the funds from your state。
   　　Private Scholarships and Grants 　　There are many private scholarships and grants you can seek on your own。
   Reach out to the groups you have been involved in to see if they may offer private scholarships。
   If you receive one, we use it to replace your self-help before we reduce your MIT scholarship。 There are many free scholarship search engines that you are encouraged to use。
   However, you should never pay for a scholarship search service。 　　Student Employment 　　Earning a weekly paycheck is a great way to cover books and personal expenses。
   We encourage you to cover a portion of your self-help by working and we list the first $3,400 of our financial aid awards as employment。
   Students work both on-campus in department offices, labs and centers, as well as off-campus in the community。
   If you work on-campus you can expect to earn at least the MIT minimum student wage of $11。50/hr (as of the 17–18 academic year)。
