In China young people usually want to be engineers, doctors, businessmen, etc。 and few want to be teachers。
Unlike most young people I decide to be a teacher。 There are many reasons for my personal preference but generally they come down to three major ones。
First, I was born in a teacher's family and so I was greatly influenced by my father。 Second, I find that education is important because it is the basis of science and technology and if a country's education is backward, its science and technology will never be advanced。
Third, teachers are needed in our country, especially in the countryside。
However, it is not easy to be a qualified teacher。
A qualified teacher must have a good command of his specialty。 Besides, he should be responsible and devoted to the educational cause。
Most important of all, he should be patriotic。 To be a qualified teacher in the future I must lose no time to acquire as much knowledge as possible。
'Furthermore I must know the history of our country so as to cultivate patriotism。
