  Earthquakes are natural disasters caused by the movements of the earth's crust, which may lead to catastrophic consequences varying with the magnititudes。
   An earthquake of higher magnititude may lead to more serious sequents。 Then how can we do to prevent against the possible calamities a great earthquake may bring about, and to minimize the casualties and and other losses? Here are what we should think about。
   First, to popularize the knowledge on earthquakes and the measures to be taken。 The more knowledge one gets, the more sober-minded he can be in face of the danger。
   And this the first and the most important thing for us to do。 Second, we should improve our capability of dealing with serious contingencies by upgrading our infrastructural facilities, public facilities and other related establishments such as a sound public hygiene system which can prevent from possible epidemics after the disasters。
   Last but not the least, we should endeaver to build up a national contingency early-warning system so that we can forecast them, which may help us a lot in dealing with such serious problems。
   To sum up, I think we can get well prepared for those catastrophes if we can improve our efforts in the above fields。
